Decorate Your Denim

July 25, 2016

This is one trend that I am seeing in almost every store I go into in one form or another.  Patch’s, enamel pin’s, stickers… it’s all about decorating your denim! Brands are decorating everything from denim to tennis shoes. But you can also buy a pack of pins from Forever21 for less than $7. Below you can see the brands that are already doing it and where to buy.

Decorate Your Denim

This season’s new way of livening of denim is so fun to me. What I love most about this trend is the price point. Buying a couple of patches and/or pins to revamp your denim pieces with your personal touch. In full discloser my daughter spends hours on instagram and finds the coolest pins. The cutest pins come from Little Arrow Shop.

Windowpane Print

March 31, 2015

One up coming trend that caught my attention is the windowpane print trend. Windowpane print was all over the runways for pre-fall 2015. The jumbo squares look more modern and adapt to any silhouette. Trousers, tops, sweaters and dresses have all gotten the square treatment. Currently I have a handful of stripes, dots, and patterns in my closet. I welcome the windowpane print. The windowpane looks great when paired with color or patterns.

I myself am excited about adding a new print trend to my wardrobe come fall. I say “come fall” because the only garment I have found in my budget is black & white. Ideally I find something with a funnier color palette.

Shop Mom Jeans

February 19, 2015

Shop Mom Jeans:

If you weren’t aware Mom Jeans are the new “it jean” this year. The new mom jean is combines high-waisted skinny and in some cases the boyfriend jean. The loose, straight-leg style sits at your waist, looks best in a vintage-inspired, medium-blue or light wash, and comes in varying lengths.

Trends always come back in one form or another. When shopping for mom jeans notice more often or not they are cropped or look better styled rolled at the bottom. I am the bigger fan of the ripped up knees in the mom jeans. (also note another denim trend for 2015/2016 is patchwork, patches over the knee, and knee cut outs) It makes the trend more modern for me than the medium denim blue jeans.

The mom jean trend tends to looks better on the slender figure.

September 10, 2012

In Las Vegas it is always seems like spring/summer weather, and the exact opposite in Seattle. I just recently relocated to Seattle from Las Vegas and am adjusting to the weather very well…mainly because I have been traveling every month since I have lived here. (hopefully that will be ending shortly…if I am going to get settled in Seattle I need to actually be here) With that said, I just returned from Las Vegas where I attended Magic/Project. Celebrity Dip Dyed Hair

    April 27, 2012

Colored hair has taken over the younger celebrity circuit in all colors and lengths. From dipped dyed to all over: crazy colored hair is in full affect.

    Lauren Conrad

    Dakota Fanning

    James King

    Katy Perry goes purple

    Kate Bosworth

    Kelly Osbourne

All these lady’s are under the age of 30 (minus James King). How lovely it must be to have a job where you can color your hair any color you want, and not have to worry how others might perceive you. I don’t mean to be a hater, there once was a time when I too had purple dipped dyed hair. If you are loving this trend and want colored dipped dyed hair I would suggest hair extensions. Hair Extensions will keep the vibrant color and you won’t have to worry about the damage the bleach will cause. If you decide to go the bleaching route here are a couple of things to think about: Continue Reading…

    Fall Fashion Colors 2011

    October 12, 2011

I had a speaking egagement today and had some question’s almost left un-answered. I didn’t come prepared with my Fall 2011 pantone color palette, and really when we talk about trends color is important. I feel like color is important because it really dictates what is in the stores and what goes on sale.

    Fall Fashion Colors for 2011

In terms of trend, every season there is a new color palette. I find color to be important when creating timeless looking images or wardrobe for that matter. Here is the color palette for Spring 2012

I am not trying to sound like Meryl Streep from The Devil wears Prada, but walking the trade shows these color palettes dictate what buyers are buying. So what does this mean to you? Take what you want from it. I am not going to judge you, I could care less how old your sweater. In fact, I am still in love with my green pea coat that is 10 years old. My role as wardrobe stylist is to teach people: to purchase clothes that they will actually wear, and what will still be revenant to your wardrobe in 2-5 years. Ok so do you get why color is important??? Special thanks to all the ladies that listened to me talk for an hour about fashion.

    2011 Fall Wardrobe Essentials

    September 18, 2011

For women here are a few of my favorites. I love trends, but not all of them fit my lifestyle or my sense of style for that matter. Pick and choose what works best for you. Here are some questions to ask yourself before you purchase a “fall essential” for yourself.
    1) What are you going to wear it with?
    2) Where are you going to wear it?
    3) Can you wear this piece from day to night?
    4) Will this piece transition into Spring?

Here is what is in for fall:

    The Poncho/ Cape:

Velvet by Granham & Spencer Faux Fur Leopard Poncho $209.00

Left on Houston: Navajo-Print Poncho $198.00

    * When scouting the trade shows for spring 2012 merchandise ethic inspired prints were everywhere. Just wait, that’s all you will see come Spring time.

Cape Trench $89.95, New York & Company

Burberry Brit Leather Trim Wool Cape $650.00

      1. Staple Button Up Cape Coat, $301.87 ASOS

Bellbottom/Highwasted/or Faired Bottoms & Platform Shoes

Two separate trends, but I personally am going to rock them together. Think 70’s style all the way. What’s great about flared/ high waisted pants they make your leg appear slimmer.

        J Brand High-Waist Bette Cords $218.00

These J Brands are on my personal wish list

        Joe's Visionaire Flare $178.00

7 for all mankind 'Georgia' Stretch Trouser Jean $189.00

Rachel Zoe Wide Leg Wool Pants $375.00

        Jessica Simpson 'Match' Pump $98.00

Color blocking is still a big trend thanks to Gucci, it continues threw the fall. Of you love bright colors but are scared to wear them so close to your face, a bright hued shoe is a great way to show your love of color.

        Steve Madden 'Pammyy' Pump $99.95

I am still going to consider is wedge to be a platform. I personally prefer the wedged platform for the comfort level. Have you noticed every heel out there is 5′ plus inches? I mean who is able to wear shoes that high and actually stand in them for more than three hours. Not me, but the wedge on the other hand is personally do-able.

Steve Madden 'Wiicked' Wedge Booties $149.99

Yes animal prints are every where and personally love them. Not sure when leopard went out of style but needless to say it is everywhere this fall. If you don’t already own anything leopard print try picking up an accessory like a scarf, belt, hat, or shoes before you go the clothing route. (except for a leopard coat) Leopard goes with everything and you will likely get more use out of an accessory than a sweater or a dress.

Frye 'Nalya Kiltie Moc' Pump $247.95

The heeled penny loafer seems to be the “it” shoe for the next 5 minutes. Unless you are going to wear this to work I am not sure how much you are really going to rock this shoe. Needless to say, I am personally going to stick with my flat penny loafers.

        Jeffrey Campbell 'Lita' Bootie

These look crazy high and they are. I feel so tall in these bad boys. The JC Lita Booties come in every color and print you can think of. I purchased mine in distressed brown because Solestuck.com was out of the navy suede in my size. They are very wearable for how high they are. Plus it is super fun to almost be as tall as my hubby.

        The Fur Vest
