Holidays in Ohio

December 29, 2015

Being Jewish, Christmas didn’t mean much growing up. Given that Las Vegas is a 24/7 city, growing up I always ended up working on Christmas Eve and/or Christmas day {I worked retail in Caesars Forum Shops, and after I turned 21 dealt blackjack at Hard Rock hotel & casino}.

Marrying into a family that celebrates Christmas has added to an already full holiday season. My family celebrates Hanukkah, and then we celebrate Christmas as an extended family (my family, my in-laws, and any relative willing to travel). This year both my family and the hub’s family are all together at my sister-in-laws house in Ohio.

If I have learned anything from my sister-in-law, it is all about planned activities. This plan I believe was the success to ensuring that everyone had a fun time… the whole time.

Her house has five bedrooms, five bathrooms, a large family kitchen, a craft room, an office, huge basement, living room, a dining room and rooms yet explored. This translates to housing all seventeen of us and hosting dinner parties of up to 25 each night, making the holidays in Ohio very festive. Besides living in a large home, Beth, my sister-in-law has every room in the house decorated in Christmas. My father went from room to room in amazement – so many trees with countless decorations. One tree in particular is black (pictured below) is up from Halloween until St. Patricks’ Day, with a decoration change for each season between. My room even had stuffed animal white poodle with a Santa hat. In their Christmas themed house (below) are my brother & sister-in-laws” in Christmas attire.

The weekend was filled with lots of giggles, hugs, food, and cleaning up. So lucky to be married the coolest dude ever with a family to match, and most importantly to have both our families merge and become one.

Sunday Fun day

September 6, 2015

Weekends are so much fun when you have nothing you “have” to do. Last Sunday was definitely a Sunday fun day for me. I started the morning off going to brunch with a big group of ladies. Than hung out with my family unit. Which included some errands and finishing all my returns from earlier in the week. Dinner out because me and my man were tired and knew either of us felt like making dinner.

I feel so blessed for my loving family, even on days when not much gets done. This Ted Talk made me laugh, and if you are married or have been married this is totally worth watching.

Close your eyes

February 7, 2015

Sometimes you have to close your eyes, jump, and hope you land on your feet. Well when I got married 11 years ago today that’s kind of how it was.

Being happily married is the hardest job I have ever had. It takes an immense amount of work, love, time, sacrifice, and effort on both parties. Thankful, I found someone who is willing to work their ass with me. Mr. Joel Kneisley I am so proud to be your Mrs.

ohhh…. and I love that you are a cuter version of Where’s Waldo!

kids fashion editorial

Here is a quick kids fashion editorial I styled recently. My 10-year-old daughter, Brooklyn, modeled for me. I am a little bias, but seriously she was so cute during the shoot. I just got these pictures back and wanted to share them quickly, so this is not the final layout or selects. Kids fashion and styling kids fashion editorials are so much fun. Kids clothing is always so cute. I have been toying with the idea of making Brooklyn a tween fashion styling blog. A blog would help with her typing and writing skills, plus help her comfort level in front of the camera.

Special Thanks to Ashli Danielle on hair and makeup and photographer Jami Davis.

A Reason A Season A Lifetime

March 14, 2013

This week I got a surprise visit from my girlfriend Yanira who I have not seen in 7 years.

It got me thinking of this poem my husband gave to me when we first started talking. Not sure if I was super emotional or if I was just really into him at the time… but this poem stuck with me.

When someone is in your life for a REASON. . . It is usually to meet a need you have expressed. They have come to assist you through a difficulty, to provide you with guidance and support, to aid you physically, emotionally, or spiritually. They may seem like a godsend, and they are! They are there for the reason you need them to be. Then, without any wrong doing on your part, or at an inconvenient time, this person will say or do something to bring the relationship to an end. Sometimes they die. Sometimes they walk away. Sometimes they act up and force you to take a stand. What we must realize is that our need has been met, our desire fulfilled, their work is done. The prayer you sent up has been answered. And now it is time to move on.

Then people come into your life for a SEASON. Because your turn has come to share, grow, or learn. They bring you an experience of peace, or make you laugh. They may teach you something you have never done. They usually give you an unbelievable amount of joy. Believe it! It is real! But, only for a season.

LIFETIME relationships teach you lifetime lessons; things you must build upon in order to have a solid emotional foundation. Your job is to accept the lesson, love the person, and put what you have learned to use in all other relationships and areas of your life. It is said that love is blind
but friendship is clairvoyant.

Feeling so blessed to have so many wonderful people in my life.

Quick pictures

February 24, 2013

Here are some quick pictures of me and my beautiful family….. yes my poodle is definitely part of the clan.

One of the benefits for having a girl is you get to dress her up.... after 5 minutes of begging she actually wore the outfit I picked out for her.

Beautiful BFF

December 1, 2011

My Best-ie got married 3 weeks ago and her wedding was over the top. I am not sure if it was because she was the most beautiful bride I have ever seen, or I was over joyed to be surrounded by so many people I love. Oh yea my daughter was a flower girl.

Isn't her ring rad? Hubby hooked it up

BFF’s Bridal Shower

September 25, 2011

My best friend is getting married! I am so excited. I met Alison working at Banana Republic in Caesar’s Forum Shops back in 1998. (yikes that was a long time ago)

Carolyn (old boss at Banana Republic), BFF (bride to be, Alison), me

Some of my favorites memories are watching Sex in the City, Sunday night dinners, moving in and out of boyfriends houses, and of course shopping together. Do you have a BFF like this? Needless to say she is an extension of my family along with her mom and sister, which I also love dearly. My BBF has been there for me through my own wedding, baby, moves, highs, and lows, so getting to celebrate her wedding is an extreme high for me. Bridesmaids and very close family and friends made for a very intimate bridal shower .

    BFF and her Mom

What’s also great about my BFF is she is super stylish, hates: being the center of attention, games at showers (bridal, baby, etc.). So this past weekend helping make her a sophicated shower would be some what easy. For the decorations I bought fabric and me and her Mom made table clothes and costars (I ironed and BFF’s mom sewed). They looked like this

Filled about 6-10 large and small vases with flowers,(actually my man cut the flowers and arragend the vases) used butterfly’s sticks to hold up the sandwiches I made.

    ....and my favorite part

BFF’s wedding is at The Parker in Palm Springs (which I have never been to) in 40 something days. So excited my daughter will be a flower-girl. The brides dress is amazing, can’t wait to share.

Crazy Colored Poodles, and Home made Dog Treats

April 29, 2011

I have poodle fever, since I am a proud new owner of one. Now I have come to realize something about myself. I am not really a dog or kid person but I am a “MY” dog and kid type of person. I wasn’t sure what type of hair cut to give him so I googled cool poodle haircuts, and look what I found

just for the Grateful Dead Fans

my blank canvas

So excited to spoil my new puppy, I made vegan dog treats. All you need is four ingredients (water, whole oats, peanut butter, flour) and an oven at 375′. Mix all the ingredients together, and put the mix on a cookie sheet. If the dough is to thick add more water and peanut butter, if the mixture is to watery add more oats and flour. Pretty simple . . . . . and my puppy seems to love them.

and for all those dog lovers out there, I think I finally get it.
