For women here are a few of my favorites. I love trends, but not all of them fit my lifestyle or my sense of style for that matter. Pick and choose what works best for you. Here are some questions to ask yourself before you purchase a “fall essential” for yourself.
1) What are you going to wear it with?
2) Where are you going to wear it?
3) Can you wear this piece from day to night?
4) Will this piece transition into Spring?
The Poncho/ Cape:
* When scouting the trade shows for spring 2012 merchandise ethic inspired prints were everywhere. Just wait, that’s all you will see come Spring time.
Bellbottom/Highwasted/or Faired Bottoms & Platform Shoes
Two separate trends, but I personally am going to rock them together. Think 70’s style all the way. What’s great about flared/ high waisted pants they make your leg appear slimmer.
These J Brands are on my personal wish list
Color blocking is still a big trend thanks to Gucci, it continues threw the fall. Of you love bright colors but are scared to wear them so close to your face, a bright hued shoe is a great way to show your love of color.
I am still going to consider is wedge to be a platform. I personally prefer the wedged platform for the comfort level. Have you noticed every heel out there is 5′ plus inches? I mean who is able to wear shoes that high and actually stand in them for more than three hours. Not me, but the wedge on the other hand is personally do-able.
Yes animal prints are every where and personally love them. Not sure when leopard went out of style but needless to say it is everywhere this fall. If you don’t already own anything leopard print try picking up an accessory like a scarf, belt, hat, or shoes before you go the clothing route. (except for a leopard coat) Leopard goes with everything and you will likely get more use out of an accessory than a sweater or a dress.
The heeled penny loafer seems to be the “it” shoe for the next 5 minutes. Unless you are going to wear this to work I am not sure how much you are really going to rock this shoe. Needless to say, I am personally going to stick with my flat penny loafers.
These look crazy high and they are. I feel so tall in these bad boys. The JC Lita Booties come in every color and print you can think of. I purchased mine in distressed brown because Solestuck.com was out of the navy suede in my size. They are very wearable for how high they are. Plus it is super fun to almost be as tall as my hubby.
The Fur Vest
I like the fur vest because it adds warmth so you can almost skip a jacket. Except the all the vest’s I want are over $600 bucks. There are cute ones out there but they are bulky, not a good length, or the faux fur looks cheap. So basically I am still on the hunt.
These are my personal “trendy” fall essentials, there are more out there. Pick and choose and plan your purchases out so you will actually wear your clothes. It is also essential to have a chunky knit sweater, warm boots, warm water proof boots, black or camel cashmere sweater (I have had my black cashmere cardigan for 12 years, no joke), long sleeve blouse, corduroy pants, hosiery/ tights, a fashionable hat (because it actually keeps you warmer), sweater dress, cashmere scarf, and long sleeve t-shirts/ thermal tops. What am I missing on my list? Can you tell I am a mom since the long high slit shirt wasn’t on here? HA HA….
